Over the last twenty or so years technology has created a society of world-wide digital communication, and for my generation in particular knowing how to use this near limitless resource of information and being an "informed user" is becoming especially vital for our daily lives and future careers. As technology and IT systems continue to develop so must our knowledge on how to use them develop as well, since no company today can survive without some form of IT or IS technology.
Information Technologies has, and will continue to transform the way we run our businesses. Bringing with it the opportunities of new jobs for people with disabilities as well as give employees more flexibility with what hours they work and where they work. Though with technology becoming so consistent in the work environment and our everyday lives new challenges such as increased numbers of depression and job-stress have risen in the workforce, leading to long term affects in peoples' lives. Understanding both the upsides and downsides to IT in the work environment will help us become more efficient in the future.

Nice post,
ReplyDeleteI liked your point - "As technology and IT systems continue to develop so must our knowledge on how to use them develop as well,...". I think this highlights a very prevalent problem with todays progression of IT and IS especially concerning our ability to adapt to it, a classic example would be education organisations having to deal with the rise of AI systems like chat GPT!
Well written summary of last weeks class and was easy to understand while reading. Provided important points on IT and IS which I agree with, as it was noted during our class discussion and is mentioned in the text book.
ReplyDeleteYour recap of today's lesson is well-written and easily comprehensible. I agree that technology consistently transforms how we and other organisations use it. It is widely acknowledged that this trend will continue, with new innovations being generated on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteGreat Summary of what we went through! I personally liked the fact that you included the effects that come along with the technology advancements within the industry.
ReplyDeleteGreat summary. I particularly like how you stated not only the 'what' but also the 'why' e.g. "As technology and IT systems continue to develop, so must our knowledge on how to use them develop as well, since no company today can survive without some form of IT or IS technology."
ReplyDeleteA great point I agree with that you showed was the fact that it is all well and good to know the benefits, but knowing the downsides is also important if we want to become "more efficient in the future."
